Some Public Domain Books
One of the problems I have with MS of late is that they force spyware down
your throat. They may couch it in nice terms, and ask you not to call it spyware,
but they do watch what you watch. The privacy FAQ has the following nugget in
it: "Microsoft is committed to protecting consumer privacy. Microsoft does not
collect personal information with respect to your use of Media Center features,
such as your name, home address, phone number, e-mail address, credit card
number, social security number, or driver's license number. Anonymous and
aggregate usage information may be shared with partners." Hardly reassuring,
especially in light of the EULA that says that they can change this any time
they want without directly notifying you. This scares the hell out of me, not
just because I can think of a dozen ways around it in less than 10 minutes. For
me, this alone would keep me from using media center.
